Join us this Spring! The Zionsville Parks Foundation has a busy spring ahead of us - and we hope you will be a part of it!

Zionsville Greenfrest
April 26  | 9am – 12pm
Zionsville Town Hall

The Zionsville Parks Foundation is proud to be the Title Sponsor for Zionsville Greenfest. In celebration of Earth Day and Arbor Day, Greenfest is a celebration of living sustainably and learning to become good stewards of our natural resources. Visit the Foundation booth to get a free swamp milkweed plant (asclepias incarnata).

Swamp milkweed is a perennial plant vital to the survival of Monarch butterflies. Monarch caterpillars only eat the leaves of milkweed plants. The pink blooming flowers of the swamp milkweed are also a wonderful source of nectar for the Monarch butterfly and other pollinators.

Native Plant Sale
Pick up May 3 | 9am – 12pm
Heritage Trail Park

The Zionsville Parks Foundation has more spicebush plants to give away! Following the success of our spicebush giveaway at Fall Festival last fall, we are offering a free spicebush plant to the first 100 people who order a plant during the first ever Zionsville Parks and Recreation Native Plant Sale.

Spicebush (lindera benzoin) is a deciduous shrub, usually 6-15 feet tall, with glossy leaves, clusters of small yellow flowers, and red fruit. Spicebush is a host for the swallowtail butterfly.

The Zionsville Parks Foundation has purchased the spicebush plants through a grant from the Boje Environmental Fund and the Community Impact Fund at the Community Foundation of Boone County.

Artist Walk with Blice Edwards
May 6 | 5:30 – 7pm
Zionsville Town Hall

As part of our Title Sponsorship of Zionsville Trailfest, the Foundation will co-host a trail walk with artists, Chris Blice and Jon Edwards of Blice Edwards Atelier. Come to hear the artists’ insights on the creative process behind their stunning nature murals along the Big-4 Rail Trail. The Foundation loved working with Blice Edwards on their mural we funded at the Big-4 Trailhead on Zionsville Road by Overley-Worman Park.
