The Zionsville Parks Foundation has been a proud sponsor and partner of the Zionsville Department of Parks and Recreation this spring. Here’s what we have been up to:

1. Total Eclipse of the Park

With a crowd of over 2,500 people coming from near and far, we gathered in Mulberry Park to witness the awe-inspiring eclipse.

2. Greenfest

Rain did not stop us from having a great time at Greenfest where we met so many of you and handed out 200 native swamp milkweed plants to attract monarch butterflies.

3. Logging Hours Outside!

We are very excited about being the Title Sponsor of this new Park program where Zionsville residents can log 100 hours outside for a chance to win prizes. We can’t wait to hear the creative ways you spend time outside this summer.

4. Trailfest

We celebrated all things TRAILS during Trailfest. Congratulations to Whitestown for winning the first ever Town Showdown; it was so fun for residents to use the completed Big 4 Trail to meet at Heritage Park for games, food and friendly competition. We also enjoyed spotting fungi sculptures during the temporary art installation by Denise Rolland Troyer on the trail.

5. Nature Connections

Third grade students at Eagle and Trailside Elementary Schools have learned so much about local ecosystems through the Nature Connections pilot curriculum presented by Zionsville Nature Center staff. We had a lot of fun tagging along at their year-end field trip to test the health of Cross Creek. We are proud to sponsor this fun and educational program.

6. Zionsville Trailhead Mural

Thanks to the Parks Department for adding a plaque to the beautiful nature mural at the Zionsville Trailhead recognizing the very talented Blice Edwards and the Foundation’s contribution to this project.
