The Nature Playground at Carpenter Nature Preserve

The nature playground is one of the first signature projects the Foundation has taken on at the Preserve, and we are thrilled to see it come together with the help of our generous donors. We recently presented Jarod Logsdon, Superintendent of the Zionsville Department of Parks and Recreation, with a check for $75,000 for the nature playground.

Unlike a traditional playground with metal or plastic structures, a nature playground is designed with natural elements and materials like trees, logs, rocks, sand and water. According to the National Wildlife Federation, children who play in nature do so with more vigor, engagement, imagination and cooperation than in an artificial environment. We can’t wait to see children running, jumping, climbing and exploring the natural elements of the new playground when the Preserve opens next year.
